BELLA CAME TO US FROM A GRASS VALLEY SHELTER. A 7 YEAR OLD AKITA MIX, SHE WAS A HANDFUL, WITH VERY LITTLE TRAINING AND A MIND OF HER OWN. AND SHE WAS ALSO A VERY LARGE DOG. SHE WAS WITH OUR RESCUE ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND I WAS ADVERTISING HER ON CRAIGSLIST FOR ADOPTION. ONE DAY I GOT AN EMAIL, “YOU HAVE BELLA”. IT TURNS OUT THAT A WOMAN SAW A GRASS VALLEY AD FOR BELLA BUT, BEFORE SHE COULD GO TO SEE HER, BELLA WAS RESCUED BY US. SO HER STORY HAS A HAPPY ENDING. REBECCA AND I CONNECTED AND SHE WANTED TO ADOPT BELLA RIGHT AWAY. REBECCA AND BELLA LIVE ON A 5 ACRE FARM IN NEVADA COUNTY AND HERE’S WHAT SHE HAS TO SAY:
Bella is doing great! We walk every morning to get the paper and I take her with me when ever possible. She is pretty good with basic commands and listens most of the time. My cat was not very happy at first and is getting better everyday. She does chase the cows, just enough to make them run. I have a feeling she will do the same with the chickens and the peacocks, when I start letting them out of their coop. We may have to work on that a bit. She also has separation anxiety, that makes it hard for her to be left alone and to relax when I’m out of her sight. I will be starting some training with her in hopes of changing some of these behavior issues. She is very smart and I have no doubt that with a little effort from both of us we can make things even better. Other than that she is really happy on the farm and I love having her. She is a great addition and I sleep better knowing she is sleeping at my feet. Thank you again for bring the two of us together. I hope you are well! I will write again soon and keep you updated on her progress.
